I know this is a huge task, but I'd like to try. I don't plan to make any C++ or anything but just something really simple. If you know of a place online that teaches this, or know personally, please tell me. Thank you!

Compiler design is a upper-division college course (i.e. junior or senior level) in computer science. Design a language itself is graduate level course. It's not someone not yet in college would usually tackle, even as a hobby.

You can download visual studio express editions for free
at Microsoft they have 5 vision
1: visual basic
2: visual C#
3: visual C++
and so on you can download any one and you can include msdn library that has some learning material to get started

It has tutorials and examples on a number of programming and scripting languages. You might also want to consider getting a book on any language that you might be interested in.

It is important to read up on the basics and have a solid foundation to begin with.
