I have a compassion for animals. I love them so much. And I get excited when I see one. Everyone tells me that I should be a Vet...but there's a couple problems with that. 1) I STINK AT REMEMBERING MEDICATIONS, TYPES,ETC 2) I'M HORRIBLE WITH NAMEING THE TYPES OF BONES.

So that automatically crosses me off the 'i'm going to be a vet' right? What are some tips and everything if I actually have a chance to be a vet?

I wouldn't necessarily say it 'crosses you off the list' - if you're really serious about it, by all means try! I'm afraid I'm from England so these test scores don't mean anything to me.

As for 'remembering meds and bones' - OK this will make exams hard, but remember when you're a vet you are allowed to consult text books, they don't expect you to do everything from memory!

The most important thing I suppose is to be prepared to work a ludicrous amount of hours for little gratitude, and have to deal with horrible clients all the time who crap all over you even when you're just trying to help. The veterinary profession actually has the highest suicide rate, and I can see why!

I'm a veterinary nurse (English thing). It's my view that people who really love animals and like snuggling up to them and giving them kisses should be nurses - vets are more into surgery and anatomy, I find they're not usually as cuddly with animals. Just my view though. I've been told that when you're applying to vet schools and they ask why you want to become a vet, 'because I love animals' is the wrong answer!

How old are you? If you are very young it is hopefull that you will learn to concentrate when you decide ehat you want to do with your life. If you are a serious student you will make good grades and be a good math and science student. IF not you won't be accepted into vet school. There are not many vet schools in the US and they only take the ones who make the best grades and pass the lvat test at highest levels. So don't worry if you aren't serious you won't make it that far. If you are a girly girl and spend all your time with boys and hanging out you probably aren't the type to become a vet it is really hard work and no fun is attached to school. Believe me I went through pre-vet. Hard classes expecially biology math and chemistry. good luck. talk to your school counselor about what will be required.

I love working with animals as well but I could never be a vet because I could never incise an animal for surgery.
