It may seem weird that a 13 year old likes to read, but its true! I've read most of the major best selling books such as the Harry Potter series, the Eragon books, The Dark Reflections Trilogy and The Dark is Rising series. I need recomendations! Thanks!

E B Baker's Frog Princess series,
any of the books by Eva Ibbotson
C S Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia

Nothing wrong with liking to read and reading whatever you like, it will keep your mind sharp over the summer and you'll be ready to learn when school resumes in the fall. the above books are favorites of mine that you might find enjoyable - let me say that don't worry about the age appropriateness of the book, if the story line interests you it doesn't matter if the book is in the young adult section or the adult section of the library. Don't let your age stop you from exploring all areas of the library when something catches your interest.

A few books I loved as a kid:
Ender's Game
Watership Down
Encyclopedia Brown
The Rats of NIMH
Where the Red Fern Grows
The Giver
The Wind in the Willows
James and the Giant Peach

But that was a long time ago. Look here at what kids today are reading:

What a great question...from an any-year-old.

Back in the Stone Age, when I was 13, our required reading list included "Animal Farm", "Moby Dick", "The Great Gatsby" and "The Outsiders". They are all great, but Hinton's "Outsiders" was the only one I connected with.

The first book from way-back-when that really stoked my passion for reading was Issac Asimov's first collection of short stories, "Opus 100".

Then, my sister made me read "The Hobbit" and my brother made me read "Dune". I was off and running down the reading road.

After reading Hemingway, I gave up novels. I figured that I was never going to read anything better.

I started reading just the classics and historical commentaries about twenty years ago. This has made me exactly the person I wanted to be when I was 13.

Thanks for asking.

I always recommend Dean Koontz. He makes his book semi-realistic, with a good twist of supernatural. I especially recommend the Odd Thomas series. I absolutely adored it.
Also, as far as fantasy writers go, Terry Brooks. He writes fantastic books that include all of the fantasy characters.
I applaud you for your love of books. I was the same way at your age and that's when I discovered Dean Koontz.
Hope that helps! Enjoy!

If you're between 12 and 18 and like video games and best friends stories I think you might like my novel GAMEPLAYER: The Genesis Portal. It's available at the normal online sites like amazon, B&N, Borders, etc. and as an ebook on mobipocket.com.
You can check it out further and read the prologue on my site www.myspace.com/gameplayerbook.
Just a suggestion,
Gary Anderson

This series is a little different than the ones you named above, but I LOVE this series. It's called The Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn. I love it and I recommend it to everybody. It is GREAT.
