This country has been leaning more and more to socialism since the days of LBJ in the 60's. By our own actions, we've begin demanding more and more that the government be less of a servicing body, and more of a 'parent' since people have become less responsible for taking responsibility for their own actions. This includes free speech, with everything from the PMRC founded by Tipper Gore to the pressures from the Relgious Right.
Sam is right, but I'm simply adding that we only have ourselves to blame for this shift of power, and the resultant lack of "freedom of speech" (as well as many other freedoms).

It's a nice idea. It just isn't realistic unless it's politically correct. Everything is all about being politically correct nowadays. It makes me sick that a person can't say what's on their minds without being penalized for it. I mean there are a lot of people who are sayiong worse things and they get away with it.
