what i want to do is print to the printer without haveing to plug the laptop in to the printer.
Printer = Lexmark x1150
and the modem is a Beliken

You can do this two ways.

One is to plug the printer into another computer and make a home network. That will allow you to print from any computer in the network.

or

Two, you can purchase a wireless print server and connect it to your printer. Follow the below link to see some wireless print servers.

Your laptop needs to have WiFi capability. Or you can buy a USB WiFi devicefor it.
You need to have the Lexmark printer driver loaded in to Windows on the laptop.
Open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.2.1 into the "Address" line above the screen. This may get you to the router (modem) setup menu.
Go to Printers and Faxes and "Add" your printer, selecting the one seen though the router.

You need a device called a "wireless print server" to receive the wireless signal from your laptop to the printer.
The wireless router cannot do this function
