Ok. So, I'm installng some new RAM for my MacBook computer, as well as getting a cooling pad for it. Two questions:
One, once I install the new RAM, with BOTH sides (Mac and PC) of my MacBook recognise the new RAM and put it to use? I think it should, but wanted to check
Two, the cooling pad thing is new to me. How do cooling pads connect to the computer, if at all, and what exactly do they do? Is it just an extra fan, or does it do something else to cool the computer? Does it waist battery life, and are they good in general?
Thanks.

For the first question, yes for sure it will recognize it.
For the second question:
Cooling pad is connected bu USB cable (mine does), and it have three fans and it is used to cool the system down, nothing more nothing less, and as for the battery life it sure waist battery life (but not that much) I'd say it will waist 0.1% from it's life.
Hope it helps

Yes, the ram will work with any o/s on the macine.

The cooling pad is used to transfer heat away from the machine. It's like sitting the laptop on a bag of frozen vegetables. Ever notice how hot your lap gets when it's on there? Exactly... :)

It depends on the design as to how much battery usage. Generally they do require some juice, but not as much as an extra drive or cd burner.

Ramm, right, it should just WORk if installed properly.

Cooling pads. The DO reduce battery life, theyre only meant to be used when you also use AC. If youre just doing a quick bit of work, you dont need to drag the cooler, hook it up, etc because your puter isnt going to get that hot for a quick task. They hook up via USB. Yes, they are a fan, but it is locaed in the correct place, under the notebook, and they are flat and have channels that direct air. You can buy any brand name, not just apple brand. They are commonly availible on sale for 20.

Yes, they are useful. I use mine, but it adds weight and bulk to my carry case. So,I want to save weight, and if you can afford not to use active cooling, pack either a couple of chopstiks (readiy availible), four 2 liter bottle caps, or 3 cheap erasers in your case. That will give you better airflow, theyre lighter, dont waste battery, not heavy and bulky to carry in your bag, and if you loose one, no big deal. Three erasers works best for me of the cheat solutions.
