I just bought a gold ram from the fish store. I found out that they are cichlids but i dont know how i should take care of them....does anybody have any tips you can give me about keeping this fish safe and alive. it is really pretty and i want to keep it so any help would be great.

I would also like to know how i could tell if its a male or female the one that i have some of the scales towards the back are blue and its really pretty and so i would like to know if its a male or female and what5 would it look like

Those are very nice fish! I have always like both blue and gold rams. Yes, it's a cichlid but it's not highly aggressive as you might think. Here's a good profile of blue and gold rams

They are no different than other fish.

Feed them regular fish food.
