I'd like to know what people think about a 25 year old female gamer that rollerblades, listens to death metal and punk/emo... writes short fiction, directs abstract documentaries, and paints? Oh, and is black.

Where I come from most people think I'm weird, but most people where I come from have no lives and their only aspirations are of working in fast food and as cashiers for the local grocery...
not because they are or aren't black, they are from every race...not a race thing. I mentioned my race because most black women where I come from are totally different.

Money, I somewhat agree, but most successful emo/punk/goth bands have members well into their late 20s and mid 30s.... and maturity is the death of the soul. As long as I'm responsible to hold a steady job and pay my bills, etc, I see nothing wrong with it.
I refuse to become a cog in the machine....

Personally, I don't like emo and punk people..... therefore I must warn you ahead of time that I'll be a little biased.

Okay.....I feel that such a behaviour is a sign of immaturity and arrested development.

sooner or later she will have to grow up and face the real world by positively contributing to mainstream society..... as there is nothing more pathetic than a 30 year old emo/goth

EDIT: But aren't we all already a part of the "Vast machine?" Standing out in such a way will not only have people pass harsh judgment on you.... and affect you in a certain way.... but their criticism will also rub off on loved ones. Just a thought.

If you like yourself, what does it matter to you what other people think girl? Others opinion may just tear you down.
OK , my opinion. 25, still quite young, has a lot of time to change. Rollerblades. Is athletic good for the body. Listens to metal and punk. Not the most enlightened person I have met.
Confusion in her life. Tones and harmonics will eat at your soul if it is unbalanced. Darkness uses music for it's own fun.
Writes and paints, now you are talking, creative person, the gift from God she is using. Directs documentaries.
Very educated black women. Bonus points for education and Art work. Sounds like you are above average!

I say good for you! One thing the art world likes in this day and age is uniqueness and orginality. Also there is nothing wrong with avante guard music; your tastes in that will evolve over time! I love classical, Celtic world music now but started off with the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Deep Purple.

Anyone who has the courage to exhibit their uniqueness in this cold, judgemental world is all right by me. Can you hear me clapping for you?

why did you have to say the black part. what b/c you are black you can't paint. i see that you already are seperating yourself from society. you are stereotyping black people and yourself.
