Why !Every celestial object is almost a sphere. Its due to the gravitational force.Consider a point with gravitational force. It will show the same force of attraction in all the distances.Similar thing happens to the sun.The greater the mass of an object the greater the force of gravitation it shows.

First, keep in mind the sun is nowhere near a perfect sphere.
Now, I might be wrong about this, but I think "spheres" are the natural ocurring shape for everything in nature, for one simple reason:
They are easier to make. It takes more energy to deliberately shape a corner and is almost impossible for this to happen with gases, I'd say.

The sun like everything in the universe is in free fall, under these conditions all final forms will be spherical even if rocks are gathering one place gravity will sort them into a spherical shape.

The mass of the sun is large enough so that it has its own gravity.
Since it is not solid (as far as we know) the burning gases naturally assume a spheroid shape around the gravitational core.

Because this is the shape with minimal surface area for a given volume. Thus the potential energy of the surface is minimized. Same as with a soap bubble. Only the force in this case is not surface tension, but gravity. But they act in the same way.

the sun like every other heavenly body spins on its axis....thus there is a frictional force acting at all the "ëdges"....for eg ... a top....spin fer several yrs and u will find its outer edges smoothing...the sun after milions of years of rotation has smoothed out to become spherical in shape...though still not a perfect sphere

its not just sun but every heavenly body is spherical because of the internal gravity.every particle/body want to stay in minimum energy state and they heavenly bodies gets it in the spherical shape.
