Are you wanting to get cable internet?
If so you can go buy a cable modem that your network is compatiable with, then you pick up installation software from the cable provider. It is super is to install it yourself. Cable modems run about $50 and up. Otherwise you might be renting the cable modem from the cable company if you have them do it, and then you will be paying for it forever.

Keep in mind that cable is potentially the fastest generally, BUT.
Here is the rub. On cable you share with others on the same hub. If a lot of folk on your hub are on line, then throughput slows down. In really busy areas DSL is faster. DSL uses your own phone line. So it is you, yourself and no one else on that line. Depending on where you live, you can get DSL for around $10 to $40. There are several speeds of DSL. I got this deal for high speed, allegedly 1.6 gigs/sec, for $20 per month. Keep in mind that advertised speeds are a bit hyped. Upload and download speeds are quite slower than the advertised throughput. However for me, jumping from dial up to high speed dsl for only 20 is great. Search the web and find a provider close to you. Hopefully you can get several services competing for your business.

It will depend on..
1) Your ability to configure your own system.
2) The Broadband company you go with.
3) Whether or not you have broadband in your community.
Where do you live?

Depends on your providers. you can investigate dsl and cable. Cable will give you faster speeds, but dsl is usually cheaper and they often give "no price increase" guarantees. I believe the price is well worth it. But If you canot afford or if it's not in your area, netzero has the best dialup speeds and decent customer service. Just Avoid AOell
