This console has been very much over-hyped since last October and accessories and games are advertised in almost every game shop.
The console itself seem impossible to buy. The best answer I have had was "order one now and we'll put you on the waiting list". Much to my disgruntlement this was also what I was told at this year's Ideal Home Show where Nintendo even had a Wii stand complete with sexy demonstrators. There don't seem to be any on the shelves.

Is this another repeat of the "Turtles" and "Tracy Island" where consumer expectations are pumped up so that we'll put up with all this mucking about and then pay an exhorbitant price when we do finally get one?

Sorry to hear that you can't get one right now. I can feel for. I waited for long time too but I got lucky one day and got mine last month when I walked into EB Games. You will gets yours soon enough. Just be patient. :)

Ah, my friend, I feel your pain.
There has been an outrageous demand for Wii all over America! I know that it's very tough to find one. The demand is higher than the supply, so when the Wiis arrive, they're immediately taken by customers!

My advice is just to KEEP LOOKING. When there's a will, there's a way. Check out your local Wal-Mart, EB, etc, and ask employees there when the next shipment arrives. There is someone there that will know. If they say "I dunno" or "Don't ask," KEEP ASKING. Persistance is the key! If you keep asking, they'll remember you and even reserve a copy. Trust me, man. Keep trying. Also, if you want to go online, eBay is a choice, but the prices are never too good.

I know you'll get one, man!

Its all sold out. Call the stores about the next Wii shpments or go on the internet and search for the next Wii shipments. Once you have gotten the exact date of the Wii shipment you have to line up at the store at around 10:00 P.M. If the security tells you to go home just come back at 1:00 A.M.

You need the services of a Wii stock locator site. This site http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk is the number one on Google (above Amazon) and the stock is updated every 60 seconds. If you sit in front of a PC all day, there's even a popup feature to tell you when Wii's are in stock.

They're actually showing non-bundled stock for Amazon now at £179.99

good luck with finding your wii, we have and we seen ones on sale in Toys'r Us (sp) yesterday.
With regard to it being over-hyped...apparently the Wii has out sold the x-box and the playstation 3 this year. Sales figures only can't be ignored.
Also as a complete novice about game consoles this one is easy, fun and is probably the most accessible for beginners. I enjoyed a wii night last week with the girls.

The problem may lie in the fact that you live in an inhospitable land where the children run ferral and dogs talk, or atleast where such innovative technology is not appreciated.

Try moving to Newcastle, UK. You can walk into any relevant shop and buy a Wii with any released game etc that takes your fancy, or is particularly shiny.

I would get the wii at toys r us.
I walked right in on a Sunday morning and they had about 10 there.
If you go when they open on Sunday, this is when they get their shipment.
Do not go to best buy or target, even on the days they say they are going to get the shipments they don’t have them.

Good Luck

you will get one by november because nintendo's plan is to put a small amount during the first year of sales, depending on how good the system goes on the first year, it will effect the years to come, & since the wii is so good, they will have alot by the second year

Funny you should say that, they have them where i live! me, my brother and my sister all have wii's so do three of my friends. they are definitely in stock at my local toys r us (cambridge) and have been for a few weeks! my advise is to check a lot of places online (including argos, game, gameplay, toys r us, hmv, play, amazon) regularly there's not a lot else you can do if locally they are going like hotcakes!
