How will the USA eventually lose it's dominance?

Question

Someday, the US will begin to fail, like all other great countries and Empires. How will it happen and has it begun?

I'm thinking in terms of the Persians, Romans, British, Spanish...etc.

I find it incredible and sad that so many answered that liberal ideas will be our downfall when the current Admin. , very conservative, has brought so much debt and loss of good will from the world

I agree with all who cited greed and corruption as a major factor in the fall of many empires...with repression also

I don't imagine America will lose its dominance completely, just share it more, with the big European powers namly Germany and Britain. Who have slowly become stronger and stronger since WW2.

China I would imagine if it keeps up its repressive regime will probably not be able to grow much more. We live in a world dominated by economy which over the century has become more and more important, the size of your empire matters very little, just look at the size of the UK yet it has one of the biggest econmies in the world. or for example look at the fall of Spainish power which happened because they carried on with there repressive regime and the empire could not grow any further.

But this is what America seems to be so incredible at, selling the American dream, people are totally sucked in, very much like the Roman Empire, people bought into the dream. However were probably better off without it! As frankly it is a pack of lies. People seem to see that more now, but maybe things will change with a better president. Basically what I am saying is with China it is very obbious that its people are repressed, so perhaps that is the key, as long as your people believe they have freedom it will work?

It's already started. The Soviet Union had Afghanistan, Germany had Russia, France had Vietnam, Britain had America, America has Iraq. To commit your country to perpetual war is to cause your own downfall.

While we are spending billions of borrowed dollars to maintain this ridiculous "War On Terror"(tm) China is using it's money to build infrastructure and promote it's businesses. Who do you think will be dominant in 10 years?

Economically and industrially it may lose it's dominance to China, and perhaps India. But culturally, it will always be dominant. I cannot see me, or indeed any of my descendants, ever listening to Chinese music on my mp3 player, or going to see the latest blockbuster from Bollywood. No offence, but they are kind of way out there as far as Western tastes go.
But have you heard about the proposed Hollywood movie about Mao Zedong! It's going to portray him in a 'positive' way! That murderer of over 70 million Chinese people! That twisted man with the ego the size of the galaxy! Unbelievable!

Yes it will....It has mainly to do with greed, like with those empires...These other countries, like Spain and Great Britain were relatively small but managed to conquer so many territories, the difference is that they were willing give up these territories, willingly....We will be able to stop imposing our foreign policies in these countries, like Iraq, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Cuba and all the rest voluntarily? And if we don't back off, what will the end result be?

This Adm. has run up more debt than all previous groups added together. You can expect further bills fro Iraq of between 500 billion to a trillion in VA charges + maybe another 500 billion to rehab equipment lost. + on going exp for who knows how many years.

You can not run up debt for ever with out the bill coming home.

Our kids and grand kids will be paying the price for this stupidity.

It will happen with the liberals taking over the country. They will start by taking away our rights like the 2nd amendment. Next they will open the borders and 100 million Mexicans will flood in and take over the country, making the dominant language Spanish.

What do you mean "will lose"... the U.S.A. is already on the way out as the world's superpower... all to make way for CHINA and, to a lesser extent, INDIA.

Remember, Rome wasn't brought down by EXTERNAL forces... it was brought down by INTERNAL forces... the graft, curruption and the greedy politicians destroyed the economy and decimated the army...

America is ALREADY a 'has been' country, but American's are too arrogant and stupid to see it or understand it.. yet... but they will... and HOW.!
