Wonderful news.

And for every story like this, there are ten more regarding positive breakthroughs our troops have made.

Why doesn't the press report about how the Iraqi government has become more stable, how the police and military have been trained well, how we have helped build and renovate 3,000 schools, how our own troops have dug sewers (even for uneducated, ungrateful residents who threw stones at them), how the Kurds are thankful every day we freed them, how women have gained rights, etc?

nothing. Musharraf would never let us attack Al Qaeda and the Taliban on Pakistan soil. It would be political suicide. Half the country supports extremists. It's a very delicate situation for the US. The current administration worked to bring Bhutto back, and look what happened? Now what? All you have to do is look at all the thumbs down to realize that the Liberals on this site have no clue about Pakistan. The US has little influence there, and there is absolutely no way we would have been allowed to send our troops there. Do a little research.

Freakin Awesome news Earnest--I agree completely! I am saddened by the fact they NY Times felt the need to bury the story in the back of the paper........in a negatively titled headline.

This should've been front page on every paper in the US --especially THIS past weekend!

God Bless our Troops!

I am very grateful for everyone involved!... On this Memorial Day I want to thank our wonderful soldiers, sailors and marines for their service, sacrifice and dedication to our nation. I am a U.S. Navy veteran and I was very proud to serve our wonderful, God blessed Nation!!
I am also grateful that this story has been struck in the eye of the Liberal/Progressive Media and of those that are Defeatists in our Nation. Did I just hear sighs from the Democrat's base and their Presidential Candidates? I know I heard Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid (D) sighing!

I certainly share in your elation. American troops are, for the most part, highly trained, professional soldiers who also happen to be humanitarians who cherish life and freedom. It is SO IMPORTANT for Americans to focus on these positive stories of success rather than be influenced by those in government who would have us believe America's mission is unjustified and a failure. Good will prevail. God Bless America and her mission.
