RES aren't sexuall mature until they are 5 years old so if it's a baby don't worry about it any time soon.

They'll take a few years to mature, 3 or 4 years atleast. The male will usually mature quicker than the female. Once you start seeing the male shake his claws at the females face, that is his way of showing off. It could be a few weeks, months, even up to a year after that before the female gets interested. You may not even be able to keep the two genders together. Some males gets very agressive, some do not. It's important to provide the female with an area to lay eggs (sand) or she can become bound, or usually just lay the eggs in the water. In other words, if you have baby sliders, you have nothing to worry about.

They need to be about 4-5" long- about 4 years old. Besides, they rarely lay fertile eggs in typical household set-ups since we do not offer a good nesting beach.
