She left for two reasons. One she has a book out and needs to promote and two, she and the writers and producers were not seeing eye to eye. She has stated that she does not plan on returning to the show but Dru's body has yet to be found so anything is possible. Also Dru has been played by others in the past so if Rowell doesnt return, dont be surprised to see Dru being played by someone else around sweeps next year. And Havingfun is right. Thats the same reason they "killed" Nick off while they were still in contract negotiations.

She is not scheduled to come back. She was less than pleased with the decline of the African-American presence on the show, as well as how she didn't receive consideration for a daytime Emmy Award.
Still, she has left the show before and come back. Stranger things have happened. They did not recast the role--and she is supposedly dead, but this could be explained later on should both sides want to come to an agreement. I don't see this on the horizon, at least for the next 2-3 years.

I don't think it will be anytime soon. From what I have read, she did not leave Y&R with the best of feelings on either side. Although, she is on the cover of one of the magazines with some kind of a teaser about characters coming back.
However, stranger things have happened in the soap world.

She may in the future come back because they fired one of the supervising producers whom I heard she didn't get along with. Edward Scott who first joined THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS in 1976, has been let go as the soaps' supervising producer. He is also Nikki's (Melody Thomas-Scott) real-life husband. I wonder if this will affect Nikki's role in any way.

I read that she will not come back unless the writers present something new and different that will help portray minorities better. Maybe now she will think about coming back since that jerk producer writer is gone.

victoria has many times in the past because of being in movies and other tv series besides being a mother to her two children so hopefully she will return soon.she is a wonderful actress and is loved by many y&r fans! no one else could really do her character justice! dru is one of a kind! i cant wait to see what she does next!

Since they left her death open-ended there's the possibilty that she will come back. I think she's gonna wind up coming back in a few years, that's why noone found the body. I love her tho and I hope she does come back :)

I hope she does , She played a good part and she was always Feisty , but it was said in the soap book,she left because of alot of Prejudice on the show.
