Yesterday, my car battery died in a parking lot. Eventually, I was able to borrow a jump box and at least get my car home. Today, I went outside to start it and its dead again!

When I turn the ignition, there is a slight clicking noise- so I know its doing something? Was the jump box not good enough and do I need someone to give me a jump? Is there anything else it could be?? My car has been running fine, otherwise(though it is due for an oil change in about another 500 miles, as well as its 60,000 mile tune up)

If it helps, my car is a 2001 Ford Mustang.

Please Help!

It is probably the battery, but before making the investment make sure your alternator is working correctly. You will be able to jump the car off, and will get enough battery charge to run for a short time, if this is the case. But if the alt. is not keeping the battery charged as you run it, it will quickly run down and not restart. Simply disconnect the positive side of your battery, when running, and meter the cable when disconnected, the neg. side can stay attached. If the alt. is working then you should read around 13 volts, slightly more than the batteries 12 volt capacity. If the reading is below 12 volts its the alt., if it reads correctly than its the battery. Good luck.

my friend,if a battery goes dead,it needs to be replaced.the weak battery needs to be charges at least two to three hours to be tested, and i almost bet, your battery is for the junk yard.. your alternator is keeping up with the dead battery enough to keep your engine running, but when the engine is off the alternator is not putting voltage in and a dead battery will not store it properly.so just go get another one,and solve the problem.the clicking is the selinoid on your starter, and not enguaging. don't try to start the engine with a weak batt.it will stick the contacts in the selinoid and then you need to replace the starter...... good luck,,,,

Whats wrong with my battery?
It's Dead, replace it.

Was the jump box not good enough and do I need someone to give me a jump?
The jump box was good enough to jump it & get you started. Nothing wrong with the jump box.

Is there anything else it could be??
Alternator, Starter, Battery. All of which can be tested at your local auto parts store.

If you have never replaced the battery, it is worn out. Stop jumping it and get a new battery. You are running on your alternator now and it is a lot more expensive than a battery.

some auto places test batteries and alternators for free, like autozone . kragen/checkers. sounds like dead battery, but maybe a parasitic draw. dome lite left on, accy shorted to power, poor connections at the battery, ground or starter can be a problem too. i would replace battery and if it dies in morning or next, then look for draw. it sounds like your alternator is ok since you were able to make it home.

it sounds like you need a new battery. your battery is dead and will not hold a charge anymore. but you may want to check your vattery terminals and make sure you have a good tight connection

You may have a bad cell in the battery.
Have it tested, or replace it.

Especialy if over five years old. The do wear out.....
