from the driver side tire, have brand new pads and rotors, new struts, new axle on pass side, driver side axle is about 2 years old, calipers arent hanging up cuz i had car jacked up and wheel off and in drive to see if the pads were rubbing or locking up, nothing there, if i even drive it around the block and park it, theres a pretty decent amount of smoke that comes out from the driver tire, took the tire off while smoking and honestly couldnt pinpoint where the smoke was coming from, i had a couple people tell me they think its could possibly be the wheel bearing, the problem is theirs no noise whatsoever from the car when driving, not one bit, it drives smoothe, turns great, doesnt pull when stopping and stops awesome, i acutally took the pads and rotor of and recleaned them to make sure there was no grease left on them, but i just need any opinions i can get before i go spend 120 on a wheel bearing and hub, thanks, any and all help greatly appreciated!!!

I dont know about this anti rust from the rotor, ive done brakes a thousand and one times and never had a problem period, and weve drove it a bunch of times and it still smokes, you would think it would go away eventually if something was burning off, nothing is leaking and theirs nothing in there to burn off, and i didnt mention that the balljoints were replaces as well (fyi), but as far as im concerned grabbing the wheel top to bottom and left to right it to check for play in the ball joints and tie rods never heard of doing that for a bearing, but the wheel does not move at all, im really stuck, and when i had the wheel off when it was smoking it looks like its coming from behind the rotor down where the hub is but cant tell exactly its just coming up from behind there but theirs no way to see, its like a mystery!!!!!

Ok i should mention this is the front of the car so their is no brake cylinder, its calipers, rotors, pads, etc....ive pretty much elimintated the pads and rotors and calipers from causing it just want to get other opinions and see if anyone else thinks it could be the wheel bearings!!!

No, the wheel bearings werent replaced, they mentioned that the one might be bad or need to be replaced, and im not sure if they packed them, i didnt know they could do that, on this car you cant just replace the bearings, its the whole hub assembly!!!

If the wheel bearings were just repacked/replaced than excessive grease can be the cause. With all the work you just had done I would wait, assuming everything is working mechanical, and see if it burns off over 2-3 days of use. If the source is a brake fluid leak this is easily determined by checking the brake fluid well, no reduction in level eliminates this as a possibility. Good luck

This car really need to get some place and be put on a dyno to roll the front wheels. I assume the smoke is coming from one side or the other. does it smoke right away or after being driven a few miles?. Is it possible the inner fender or one of the rubber or plastic spalsh gaurds got jared and is leaning on the hot motor or exhaust. You would really need to get it to someone who knows the different smoke colors and smells. Oil and brake fluid smell different then rubber or plastic burning.

If you have never done one - it is very difficult on a front wheel drive vehicle since the pump is on the side and not easy to access. I did one and the location was a problem, hard to reach ( you need to be somewhat athletic), to clean the mating surface and install it - and - then - it leaked? I just completed a 98 blazer 4.3 CID and a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 CID and those are rear wheel drive where the water pump is on the front of the engine and each was a 3-1/2 hour project. Sorry to sound so pessimistic but, a side mounted pump is not fun for even one who enjoys working on vehicles.

Next time you see it smoke, pop the hood and make sure your not getting smoke from somewhere in the engine compartment that is just migrating out from under the car!
These cars were famous for oil leaks from the intake that would run down and drip on the exhaust crossover.

ihave found when wheel smokes touch axle bearing for extreme heat sensation.good bearings dont heat up.change hub assembly, leave car on ground gently shake car side to side above wheel for wheel/hub popping sound.but mite not work, cause sounds like bearing siezed on axle shaft, spinning in hub.should spin feely inside and out. happy trails

It could just be the anti rust film on the rotor burning off.
