I was wondering how exactly does the internet work on a laptop?

You use your wifi to conect to a router. You must ave an isp or ask for permission from your neaighbors. If youre at an internet cafe, usually, you just fire it up. At a library or school, you have to ask for the LAN info. You can also connect via WWAN, but that takes buying a seperate card (some carriers will give you a card for free, then you must pay per month to use it. Tmobile, cingulair and verizon offer this

Hi Usually there is a wireless adapter inside the laptop with an antenna. This allows signals to go to and from your laptop over radio.

It is wireless. this means you need to have a wireless router so your internet can be accessed from you laptop, without being hooked up to anything.
