Whether or not the Universe was created by God is a question that cannot be verified, so it is purely a matter of belief. I believe everything evolved naturally. There was no "Intelligent Design." The reason I believe this is because there is nothing in the Universe which would require an intelligence to create, (except what we humans have created.)
But even if you did believe God made it all, you would still be stuck with the question of how and when. Clearly the biblical account, the creationist view, is grossly incorrect. It is contradictory to virtually all of the evidence. And then, as one answerer has implied, there is always the question of what created God? If God is eternal, they why not the Universe? If God just popped into being, then why not the Universe?
If you ask your teacher why he/she believes this, the answer will either be religious, (based on the bible); or generally unscientific, (based on personal incredulity about natural origins, ie. the perception of what seems possible or likely). I believe both are wrong.

whether or now not the Universe was once created by way of God is a query that cannot be examined, so that's purely a be counted of concept. i think of the full element superior of course. There was once no "smart layout." the objective i think of it fairly is pondering the certainty that there is not something interior the Universe which could require an intelligence to create, (as properly what we human beings have created.) yet besides the certainty which you likely did have faith God made all of it, you may nevertheless be caught with the question of ways and whilst. of course the biblical account, the creationist view, is grossly incorrect. this is contradictory to in certainty each and every of the info. and then, as one answerer has implied, there may be forever the question of what created God? If God is eternal, they why now not the Universe? If God purely popped into being, then why now not the Universe? if youin case you ask your instructor why he/she believes this, the respond will the two be non secular, (general on the bible); or customarily unscientific, (based on man or woman incredulity approximately uncomplicated origins, ie. The concept of what seems a danger or probably). i assume each and every are flawed.

Your r.e teacher is believing a theological truth which means it is based on faith and the big bang is a scientific truth which means it has been scientifically proven. Some beleve that the big ban might have been caused by God. I believe the scientific truth but as I said some think ( even some scientists) God might be behind the big bang, anything could have happen but the big bang is more believeable. There are many mysteries in this wold like which came first the chicken or the egg? LOL

Both your R.E. teacher and the Discovery Channel programme are right. God created the Earth, but he didn't make it complete and entire as we see it today. He formed it over a period of millions of years. This gradual formation we call evolution.

No. In reference to an earlier comment, evolution has not been disproved at all, it's one of the most successful scientific theories ever constructed and is still regarded as correct by the overwhelming majority of qualified scientists. The fundamental basis of science is testable fact, and there is no sensible/testable evidence for a divine being creating the Earth, but plenty of evidence for the solar nebula hypothesis (in which planets coalesce under gravity and electrostatic attraction from a cloud of gas and dust around a newly-formed star) - including the fact we have directly observed it happening in nebulae elsewhere in the universe, as well as the chemistry of our solar system and planet.
Earth has always been a huge piece of rock since it's formation 4.5 billion years ago. The surface has been changed over time (largely as a result of life appearing - for instance, we only have oxygen in the air as a side-effect of life), but the interior has remained pretty much constant.
Unless your RE teacher is a trained scientist, then her personal views may not be rational or based on any reliable evidence. Belief and theory are far from the same.

He laughs, I think, when He reads all these comments you write about Him. God I mean.
looked at the Hubble image of Spiral Galaxy M101, asked a couple of questions about its nature in the Astronomy section, and i was Awed, by the majestic perfection of the creator.
The dimensions involved, the sheer amount of matter and energy in a single galaxy.
And some one says it was not created!,
well if do not have some other superior intelligence, guranteeing life as we know it, the earth holding its place in the heavens, being exactly the right distance from the sun, to support life. having just the right atmosphere to protect us, . . . then i hate to think the alternative.
that our existence is a one off happening in chance! wow.
There is God. your teacher is right. and science supports this

a question that will be asked until the last dying ember of the sun extinguishes, look at the beauty of nature all around you the different species, the plants the animals the sky, the oceans, hard to imagine it all being created by a massive explosion or collision of matter..maybe the big bang created God, who then created the universe?
believe what you want to believe in, no one can take that away from you...
Enjoy

Yes, God created the world and everything in it. When you look in nature - the earth; the universe. The science surrounding the molecular structure of the eye; the atmosphere of the earth and how if it were one iota off we would be spinning out of control or could not sustain life. We in our desire to humanize everything; cannot fathom the greatness of something as vast as GOD therefore it is impossible for us to conceptualize creation according to GOD.
Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
I do not need to see GOD to know that he exists or that he created this vast universe and the world we live in. I only need to look around at the miracles of life around me, out there in the universe and KNOW that HE is greater than anything I can fathom.
That does not mean that science and faith cannot and do not walk side by side, it is for each of us to learn and understand how God meant for them to be together.

Personly I do not, since there is little direct evidence (without refering to a religous text written 2000 odd years ago). over 200 years of complex science, mathemaitcs and physics have not found any proof of the biblical creation of the earth, those 'scientists' who think they've found proof are more likley reading the 'Good Book' instead of evidence.
Would you trust a 2000 book with no sources on science? books even 20 years out of date are not used due to the pace at which science moves as data is collected, processed and the slow evelution of science moves on
Please be open minded. religous teachers will use biblical account, becuase they not only wish to teach you other religons they likley wish to share thier own. keep an open mind and seek ALL the facts and you'll come to an oppinion you are happy with
Good luck in your studies

dont forget it wasnt god who wrote the bible, it was men (who by the way thought the earth was flat etc etc) to subdue the illiterate masses by striking the fear of god into them eg be good or you'll burn in hell for eternity.
now astronomers are beginning to discover new planets around far off stars it wont be long (hopefully) before the technology advances enough to detect earth like planets. thats the first step to discovering that were not the only life in the universe, which kind of blows the religious argument out of the water, cant wait to see what they say about that
