People are more health conscientious today, especially because of the prices of medicine, and doctor care. The truth has come out about cigarettes, and alcohol products. Before people didn't even think twice about there health, for there was no Internet, or television shows to inform them about these products, they only learned about the basics of life. Like through the Movies, or at school. Now of days there are so many magazines, stores, shows on the industry of models, and on health. Everyone is informed about the dislikes, and likes of Hollywood. What is good for you, and what is not. We all know the in things of this world. Skinnny is in, and fat is not. Sadly though, it has really affected the thinking of the youths of today. Many have serious eating disorders because of this. I miss the old days when life was not so complicated. Kids just had fun, and enjoyed their youth. Hardly anyone cared about what shape you were, they only cared if you were a nice person.

who told you that about the fatter u were the more u used to be admired, thats nonsense people were not so much fat as just not as toned and concerned about muscle development as we are today/ in the 60's everyone wanted to look like top model Twiggy (Lesley Hornsby)she was just as thin as Kate Moss, she as very Mod (Carnaby Street sheik) wearing colorful clothes, 5 sets of eyelashes, and short hair, she looked very cute she did not try to look like a burnt out addict like Moss does which make Moss look dirty and sickly

True... wonder about that too. I think its harder to be thin and thats why we like it more. Americans like a chalange. In Afghanistan they still think that fat is beautifull, because when u are fat it represents wealth.

I will not choose. We need to learn to love one another, irregardless of their shape and size. I think it is the media that drives our image of "what is desired" instead of educating others that diversity is more important an issue.

It must have been a sign of wealth, as food may have been harder to come by.
Now, with all the junk and crap we eat, it's a sign that we're not taking care of ourselves.
