an independent polling organization, as reported in the Investors Business Daily, did conclude very recently that 2/3rds to 3/4ths of Americans do not want to unilaterally pull out of Iraq {"surrender"}.

who knows, maybe some Democrats actually listen to folk other than the loudest??

No as I mentioned when they first won the Congress, they had to beware of being backed into a no-win corner by their extreme left wing side. Well, who is going to listen to Justagrandma, they didn't and they got cornered. They had to give him the money or look like they were penalizing the troops, even though it took longer twice before with a Republican congress. It not a surrender policy, we have no one to surrender too, there isn't a government or leader to give the sword too. And they are too busy killing each other to take time out to designate one.
By September, if his Surge doesn't work, (is anyone still paying attention to that there?) Bush won't even have the influence to get the Republicans on his side, and we will declare that we have done what we came to do....Saddam gone, elections held, and leave. No surrenders, no peace there either, but hey, when has the Middle East ever been peaceful?

Since when do they care what the country wants ? They were trying to shy away from being lumped in with other lib hate-mongers ragging on the U.S. ..like rosie 'odummel..EGORR/algore..and were also beginning to think we just might put 2 & 2 together ..re: John Kerry's slander of our fine American troops on the battlefield ..and of course ..the dems have to think of their image ...After all - they've been caving to the enemy up to now..what will people think ?

75% of Americans are against the war and want to pull out.

The Democrats work for the same corporate interests as the Republicans do. Nancy "Impeachment off the table" Pelosie and the rest of her gang never intended to end the war.

The Dems and Reps are two sides of the same coin. They play good cop/bad cop against the American people, and have been for over 30 years. We've all been played.

Democrats were beginning to get blasted by Americans tired of them playing games with the Iraq war. They, and the GOP, missed the message of Election 2006 - "Stop the games. Get to work or get booted out!"

Democrats knew, in advance, they could not get legislation upheld that contained time lines because they could not override a Presidential veto. They even set up a meeting, in advance, with the President to negotiate a compromise.

The "time lines" legislation was a scam from the beginning and voters saw right through it.

It was NOT a surrender policy! The electorate chose to bring our troops home. It was not JUST the democrats that decided that they Must send money to feed the troops until dimwit will listen to the voters.

no, they are just giving him some extra rope to hang himself even higher. Just like vietnam screwed with the republican power base by making even republicans sick of the incompetence and corruption this will ensure the ouster of bush and his cronies for years to come. Once this happens the country will be able to get back on track to energy independence and actual homeland security instead of crusades overseas.

now here is a political monster.

this is the same kind of guy who has been saying that the dems hate the troops because of wanting to speak for over 70% of americans.

now that the dems have done WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE SOLDIER IN THE FIELD, these same cons are now calling them weak.

here's the lesson here folks:
never ever ever ever ever ever ever vote republican again.

they simply can't be trusted.

never again - not mccain or giuliani or arnold.

if they want my vote they will need to leave the party of institutionalized failure and run and lead as inde's...
