ok so we are all familiar with todays cast aluminum type grill well heres my question; my friend threw my grill in the garbage we had a fight and i didnt come get it in time now she is saying oh it was cracked anyways well it did fall over in a very very windy storm and i had picked it up and never noticed it to be cracked she said it was also im almost positive it fell to the grass she said it fell to the pavemant but even so do you think fromit falling on its side it would crack? it was cast alum so thats pretty hard to swallow

Cast aluminum is indeed brittle. It could have cracked falling on pavement. If it did, it should have left an impression of the concrete in the black paint.

It's really beside the point, though. If it was only brought up later as an "anyway", her excuse is just a lame rationalization for why she really threw it away (it was ugly, in the way of her stuff, etc). Regardless of the condition of the grill, if it was your property, it was up to you to decide if it was worth keeping. The crack probably didn't even prevent it from doing its job if it wasn't noticeable. Sometimes room mates can make agreements about throwing each other's things away in the 'fridge or such (if it stinks, it goes, for example), but a grill? No way.

It could have cracked. Cast aluminum is fairly brittle. However, you really can't resolve this to anyone's satisfaction. You have a problem in your relationship with this friend. You are more than ready to believe she lies, and if you are right, then maybe she isn't that great a friend; if you are wrong, then perhaps YOU aren't that great a friend.
