how long does it take to heal

The first man I thought I loved, broke my heart so badly, that it almost burst inside my chest. It took three years before I allowed myself to love someone again, and good thing I found my husband that time around. I'm glad I did, for I never had to experience that pain again. Each person grieves differently over a lost love, or a broken heart. There is no set time on it. But it does get better with time. Keeping busy, and spending quality time with others, helps the pain to go away faster.

You begin by assuming that you will never get over a broken heart, (which may or may not actually be true). Then, when you wake up & the longing is still there - it's OK. You make peace with it - then move on, as soon as & as best you can.

My heart never really heals, because I find myself thinking of those people from time to time, but it does take a long time (months, maybe even years) for me to accept things for they way they are.

Would depend on if you dwell on it or not; also if you meet someone new that takes the others place. Don't set at home and feel sad, make yourself go out and look around. There are many fish in the sea. Cheers.
