Depending on how big, just on normal kitchen scales, but make sure it'll be comfortable and won't fall off and obviously clean whatever it's on thoroughly. For example my tortoise is just bigger than my hand so he can fit inside an ice cream box and that can go on the scales and it's not too stressful for him either. Hope that helps :)

I bought a cheap digital scale on-line...

First you need a scale that does 'tare weight', which means you can weigh a bowl and remove that weight from the total.

Then, just put your tortoise in the bowl and weigh it!

For a young tortoise, a cheap 'kitchen diet scale' would work. If you have no other way of keeping the tortoise still, try putting it on its back for a moment... but only for a moment- it is stressful for it.

Ounces or grams? Grams are more accurate but use what you want- there are a lot of conversion programs out there!

Hello...on a scale ..maybe a meat market scale..if it's of reasonable size..don't believe you can walk a 300 lb tortoise into a grocery store & ask them to weight it ..or put it in a box then weigh, would give a reasonable estimate !! Take Care :)

Postal scales that weigh in grams work great. You can pick them up at Staples or Walmart. Kitchen scales are pretty good too.
