I am for the war, and i will admit that its going badly. The main reason is because of George Bush. Now I'm a conservative and i would pick bush over Kerry any day, but bush is definitely one of the worst presidents in US history. Bush's ideas of a surge was 20,000 troops. I am for more troops in Iraq but if your going to surge don't send 20,000. Send 200,000 that is a surge. If people want the war to be over then support an actual 200,000 troop surge that will get the job done. Another reason why Iraq is going bad is because of General Petraeus. He commands the troops to ask an enemy 20 questions before being allowed by law to kill the enemy. This has to stop. You cant have limits on what terrorists to kill! If some of these problems were resolved then Iraq would go better. a lot better.

Well that small minority of true believers in any argument just get louder and more vehement the more things look bad for them. They are the few against the many and just get this bunker mentality. The true believers in any cause cannot be converted. Look at Bush himself in this case. These people refuse to step back and re-evaluate the situation because admitting thaat they took a wrong position is worse than any consequences of that decision. And it sure is a lot easier when you have nothing you are sacrificing for that postion. Heck, this is supposed to the most important war of our time and the deciding factor in our future according to Bush and we as a society aren't even being asked to make any sacrifices. Isn't that a little fishy?
But to your point, it is true of any strongly held position be it left or right.

sure its not going well.our politicians sabotage our troops daily with talking.the only talking that should be done is peace talks.
for me im sick of them bombing everyone.they do this all over the world in case you didnt know.you think if we leave now they wont come to us?sadly sadly mistaken.i think theres a fine line between speaking your mind a being a flat out traitor.
being there makes it alot easier.its so obvious we have the higher end of kill/death ratio... i mean at 3500 dead over several years compared to normandy that had abit less than 20x's that in a few days.....pffft,you gotta be kidding me americans.they gave killed more of their own people than us.let the generals really run this machine and open the throttle up abit and you could quite possibly get these guys home faster than these stupid debates politicians are having.sometimes actions speak louder than words, and we all know our politicians can talk the skin off a raccoon but our actions have been tied to hanging out like the UN does, looking like its a waste of time.
We need generals like patton and mcarthur....true warriors of battle.there is no way to change how war is waged...fighting equals dead or alive and the side you chose is very important.chose your sides carefully americans, winning this war will create a huge opening for our future and ability to weed out these bad elements in these regions.democracy and trade and capitolism is wanted, these people want this.
added edit.yeah they been killing each other for 2 thousand years,as well as trying to Eliminate the jews...sound familiar anyone huh, huh, huh? typical cowards ready to run, must come from a fine long line of deserters.its good to know my family has fought for this country since the beginning shown by my family tree.war sucks folks but id rather be the winner than the loser......take it how ya want, but if we lose on purpose the morale in this country will create some problems im guessing.veterans from vietnam didnt exactly get treated very well when they came home.

Does anyone even know history. The soviets in afgahnistan, that didn't work, the constant battles between almost all mideast countries, they haven't ended. This moron president of ours has mislead us into a war profiteering war simply for the interests of big business. We don't need to spend 20 years there dumping hundreds of thousands of our soldiers and trillions of wasted dollars (Haliburton wastes) to finish something that would be destroyed with in a few years of the resolve. This is the problem and it will always remain the problem. This can't be fought on the ground and it has no winner no matter how it looks. The cons just want to back the president and bash liberals, that is why they stick to the stance they do. They call liberals spineless yet they can't muster up enough to even think or dream of having their own thought process...that is spineless. We know the war is bad, we know there is no way to win. Why be there, just for the interest of a political view of a moron president. I just wonder how stupid they are all going to be a few years down the road...will they apologize...lol yeah right.

The problem is, there is no way to get out at this point without people dying, if we stay people die. We have painted ourselves into a lose, lose situation. The people of Iraq want us out, their government wants us out, most Americans want out, yet we remain there damned if we do and damned if we don't. We have caused a nightmare scenario in Iraq, innocent people are dying caught in the middle of waring factions and tribes, fundamentalist Muslims are spreading their hatred, insurgents are doing their thing and everyone is killing each other in the complete lack of any kind of control in Iraq by anyone. What is it in that atmosphere that people insist on supporting? Iraq is going to survive this attempt by President Bush to force it to become a democracy? Make me laugh. We're spending hundreds of billions on nothing more than pipe dreams while people die.

I have wondered why the percentage of cons is unrealistically and disproportionately high. I think it may be because these people are mostly children -- people aged 12-18 who don't work and can play here all day long, in school computer labs. We are in the midst of a frightening conservative backlash among youth, where green causes and peace causes are reviled as "hippy" causes. And naturally, children, more than even the thickest adult, buy completely into the competitive/ partisan/ let's choose extreme sides part of politics.

I believe that the 24% don't know what really is going on in this war! There is no reason that we should have gone there in the first place!

76% of the people also don't follow politics and constantly change thier mind. The media has been trying to convince America that the war is going badly. Until you actually go to Iraq and talk to the soldiers that have been here a couple of times, then you will know that the media is full of feces.

I think that your question is a bit misleading. People can believe the war is going badly and still support it. I don't think that your statistics are all that accurate so I don't really give much merit to your question.
Personally I think the war is not going as well as it could have but I think we did a good thing by going over there and I think it would be horrible of us to just pull out and abandon what we started.
The news media is very biased and they lead people to believe what they want them to believe. There are a number of studies that have been done and it's very clear that the information we receive from the media is very skewed and very inaccurate. Furthermore, statistical polls that are generated at the public are often times designed so as to get a desired response which ultimately renders them worthless. In addition, most of the polls put out to the public are not statistically significant which means they are not accurate. They just don't tell you that when they air them.
Overall, I support our troops and I support our mission over there. We are fighting for freedom for oppressed and brutalized people. It would be disastrous and incredibly selfish of us to just pull out. We have to be responsible and finish what we started, help them gain stability in their new government. Perhaps, we just need a new game plan to smooth things out a bit.
