I went to an Augustana concert last night and during one of the slow songs a group of girls started dancing around in an almost waltz-like manner. They looked so happy....as if they were dancing in the rain in a beautiful place. But there was a group of girls next to them that I could tell that wanted to dance but were looking around as if they didn't want a specific person to see them. I felt bad for them because they couldn't be their natural self because of a worry in their mind.

Women get judged based on the apparence a lot more than men do, and this stereotype keeps getting stimulated. We are suppeosed and expected to look good. When I was little I foud it unfair that I was told to behave, not get myself all dirty, act like a "girl supposed to act" while my brother had a lot more slack. This is how and where I think girls get to learn to be overly concious of how they look.

Some women care what other people think of them, its more important to them than their own self image. Understandably you haveto maintain a certain level of integrity within the social structure of which we live in but I dont beleive that means live by everybody elses standards. I agree I too feel bad for women who lack self confidence in either what they look like or what they believe in. And being in the company of someone who can enjoy themselves is always a more pleasant time whos going to care about your opinion of them over their own.

ok sto pensando che sei italiano.
in caso non lo sei ti rispondo in inglese.
I'm a very timid person. So I understand what the girls that weren't dancing felt like. We're scared of what people think about us. Because sometimes people judge us for what we aren't. Sometimes it can lead to a phobia. So don't feel bad for them because we already feel bad for ourselves.

some girls are just shy and afraid that they will look bad or not very self-confident. it happens to every girl/woman once in her life at least. im not that way though, and i enjoy letting myself loose. and some girls and women are just quieter and dont enjoy doing things like that.
but in those girl's case, i also feel sorry for them. thats sad.
