One of my friends, years ago, was a man named Julius. I called him that. People called him Groucho. He died in 1977, the same week as Elvis did. I went to the country to see a rock concert and as I was walking back to my car, I saw a RV setup that said Tattoos. I knocked on the door. They were about to leave, but decided they were willing to do one more. I got a very tiny little comic of Groucho on my left breast. I had only one for years and years. But I had had many wolves in my life. I wanted more ink and knew that is what I would get. I got a 2" x 3" wolf head on the top of my body, near my right shoulder. It is for the wolf I have now, for the wolves that have passed through my life. When I was a little witch, I used to draw an open heart above my right knee. So I just had that one reproduced in black ink. I decided, a couple of years ago, I wanted a large band of solid black stars around my left upper arm. One of the stars is encircled to make it a protection symbol of a pentacle. I have another open drawn plain black flower I designed on my right hand right by my thumb. I actually designed 90% of my tattooes. They go on my body; they are my sketches. I have a pansy tattoo on my lower back with a few swirls around it. Just the flower itself is colored. There is a solid black lizard on my right ankle. (that one hurt as it healed; bad spot) I have 33 small and tiny black bats on my back and right shoulder; the biggest one is smoking a cigar. All the men I love smoke cigars. Around the bats is this sketch I designed of a heart with two fangs, slightly dripping blood, and rabbit ears coming out of the top. The story for that one is very long. My right upper arm has a big blue rose in bloom, with a smaller blue bud and some thorns. there is a tiny ladybug on the stem for my cousin who passed. The rose is for my mom and for my grandmother. The rose connects with them in a few ways. On the left upper arm I have a crecent moon with a male face on it, in blue. It has black leaves encircling it. It is for my mom. She once had a beauty shop called Blue Moon. And it is a great part of my beliefs too. I have a black sun on the back of my neck; very simple. I had a small spider on a little web string hanging from the star armband. And around my left wrist, I have two candy corns, held together with bloody barbed wire. And I have a very large skull with two sharp fangs on my left thigh, with a goddess candle burning on the top, and in script it says "heaven's above"....another Groucho reference of sorts. Very few people get the real meaning of that one.
I love all of them very much. I am satisfied with what I have. But someday I will get a bit more on my left leg. Still working on the design. It has to be perfect for me.
It will be there for a while!Age has a lot to do with it. I got mine when I was over 21, and had thought about them for a very long time first. You have to give them a lot of thought. You don't want to be an old lady with a very silly tattoo on your skin.
