This is my take on your situation.
Your boss tells you to do something, you know he/she is wrong, but you do it anyway, because it is your duty. You are doing the right thing by doing what you are told. This does not make your boss right. All of your fellow workers do the same, and you support them because they are doing their duties as well, this still does not make the boss right. You and the other tell the boss that he is heading in the wrong direction and he does not listen. He should be the one held accountable when things go wrong.
In the Declaration of Independence it states that if we the people, ( not word for word ) do not like the way our government is handling things, we have a RIGHT and a DUTY to change our government. This is suppose to be a government for the people by the people, not a government for the government paid for by the people.
We all have the right to voice our opinions, oppositions towards our ELECTED leader (s). Unfortunately, we the people have been speaking, yelling and screaming on deaf ears. I support our troops 110%, I just do not support the war that started as "We will get Bin Laden for 911', then to have the goals changed to WMD, to Saddam to whatever they can think of next.
One of the first things I learned in Martial arts was that it is better to walk away from a fight than to actually fight. Nobody may claim victory or defeat, yet both sides neither win or lose. We can get out of Iraq. Leaving will save lives, our troops and the 160'000+ innocent civilians that have died there as a result of our occupations there.
So if we leave and countless lives are saved, doesn't everyone win? In a sense?
This is how I would handle the mess over there. I would send out fliers stating that after a certain date, 'Anyone with a weapon in their hand or possession other than American and allied forces will be considered and enemy and target and will be shot on the spot. NO exceptions. Put your weapons down and call a truce.'
I could go on and on, ( I guess I already kinda' did that).

People who join the military do so willingly and do exactly as they are told. I would think that they are intelligent enough to know that not supporting the president in the Iraq war, or the way it has been handled is not being disrespectful to the troops. They are doing the job they signed up to do no matter where they are sent.
Its pretty clear cut in my mind. What somebody else wants to make of it is just rhetoric to cause shame for having perfectly legitimate reservations about creating an enormously worse situation than was necessary to begin with. There are no words for the anger and frustration I feel towards this administration for what they have done and for what it will cause all of us in the future.

"Patriotism is supporting your country all of the time, and the government when it deserves it."
The notion that you "don't support the troops if you don't support the president" is propaganda designed to intimidate people into remaining silent.
Here's the only answer you need: Our troops should have to put their lives on the line ONLY when there is good reason to do so. If the president sendes them into harm's way and you believe the reasons for doing so are not adequate, then you have NO MORAL choice but to oppose the president. Otherwise, you are supporting risking their lives for no good reason. And that is not suppporting the troops--its the exact opposite.

The only way to support the troops is to give them the respect and thanks they deserve for signing up to fight for what they believe in - sadly the President has lied to them about the reasons for invading Iraq and now they are being used. I stand squarely against any who abuse our troops, put them in harm's way without noble cause and treat them like fools.
Standing against those who abuse the trust and honour of the troops is how best to serve them. Your President and our Prime Minister have abandoned our troops to a war based on lies.
IVAW - Iraqi Veterans Against the War is a good place to start for information on what the troops want and how to help. That you ask the question shows how much you care :)

It's very simple. Protest the actions of the president, and yet be clear that you still support our troops - the same troops that he is putting in harm's way.
It is your right to question the actions of the administration, including the invasion and occupation of Iraq. That is not a sign that you no longer support our people in uniform, serving in the field.

Write your senator and congressman to stop the funding for this stupid war. If george bush continues to send troops into harms way for his own political ends, it's the president who is jeopardizing their lives. Let the troops come home and protect OUR shores, and OUR lives. They're certainly not doing that over there...no matter what our government says. I'm sure most of the troops don't want to be there, and their family's don't want them to be there either.

to late.but if you push him through...push the soldiers...push the fact we love our boys, let them do the job.the fact is they are holding back severly.you people just dont understand what those cities would look like or the mass loss of life if we didnt have precision missles.yes some do stray but for the most part....i would say decent percentages prevailed.WWII,look cities in france and england and others.....
the fact is we are friends with the jewish people as a country..these clowns have been tryin to whack these guys for 2 thousand years.its abit childish to presume that life isnt about killing each other for eternity is it?im just sick of their bullshiitt spilling over to us.so we stood up after they bombed an important part of our society.i dont think its wrong..they gave us a reason to go to them,it gave us a good reason to say listen up junior...these lil games of hiding the bomb or fly the plane into big city buildings......well they just arent apart of our plan...so cut the crap or we are gonna spank you.
they have killed 10x's more of their own people than our troops..which is at 3500 approx.we lost abit less than 20xs that at normandy in a FEW days compared to several years.
What can you do?support them outloud!support them in all phases because your frustration is what they see in the others.if they need to put 50k soldiers...send them.if the need food send it.if they need something from home.....for gods sakes send it!!! let the generals command the war..find out about generals george patton and Mcarthur we need men like this...we need warriors, this is a religious battle to them.there is nothing like a man with a religious cause, not to mention all the states are ran by religious factions.realise this and your actions by voting and voice to reps will be heard.
We need to remember some of the outstanding quotes of all times.
"Together we STAND Divided we will FALL"!
"These colors Dont Run".
Hazahhhhhh!

You simply can't be against the war and FOR the troops. The action that you take in opposing the war gives political cover to like-minded politicians to actually effect the conduct of the war. You have to decide.

Standing against bush is the only way to support our troops.
he'll keep them there until they've all done at least 12 tours of duty.
