It would appear to me the average liberal is more susceptible to believing "conspiracy theories" such as
9/11 was done by our government
We went to Iraq for oil
Roswell/Area 51/UFOs
Global Warming(not really a conspiracy, but liberals flock to it)

Now there is some basis on which to formulate arguments in favor of these. However, the first 3 especially leave much room for rebuttal. There just really doesn't appear to be a sound platform from which to prove this. They are generally "proved" by either junk science or emotions. So why do liberals fall for them more often?

It is probably a symptom of the mass psychosis known as modern day "liberalism".

Honestly, because it is another reason to hate America. Conspiracies are always where America is the bad man and the government did something wrong, so naturally liberals would believe all of that nonsense because they already believe (although rather baseless) that the government is terrible and corrupt.

Because of their early addiction to stories in general, fiction and sci fi combined, it was their only refuge as children, as the other children refused to play with them and often taunted them, sometimes stealing their lunch money. Then they turned to drugs as an escape, and so while the others achieved and succeeded in life, they remained in their parents basements, alone with their game boys, dope and imiganery friends. One thing led to another , and alas one day while surffing the internet, invented by the military not Al Gore, they ran across some web sites that required the wearing of tin hats to undertsand. This made them reminese about the days of yore when their mom's would make tin hats for them to keep the boogie man at bay. Thus conspiracy theories took off!

I hear more conspiracy theory from the right-wing nuts, than the left-wing nuts. (Some are just all-around nuts) Just look at all the questions on this site, and count , for example .(There's a project for ya') Conspiracy theory requires less thought and effort , than untangling and analyzing the threads of reality . The insurmountable inevitability of all-powerful cabal(s) also relieve the believer from responsibility to do anything about the (percieved?) problem. In some cases, the realization that something awful was the result of randomness, and/or individual flaws(?)(contrariness /foolishness /stupidity /greed /hate /lust,etc) might be cause for despair, so a conspiracy is somehow more comforting. At least there is reason behind it.

Well... Even if the common plant foods we eat have some sort of poison, we are so used to it, it doesn't affect us. And such an immunity can only be achieved by long habituation. And such defenses are natural because they are not man-made. And if it's not man-made, than it's good. Just a theory.

Wow! Another blast against these non-existant 'liberals'. The strawman takes another beating. Ever since the reactionary, facisti Jesus freak right redefined the word 'liberal' we've been treated to these nonsense charges. Holy #$%^...if the cat had kittens the 'liberals' would get the blame. In logic, beside being a strawman argument, it's also quite servicable as a 'red herring' argument. If someone disagrees with you can can negate that persons argument, not with objective facts, but by saying, 'what can you expect from a 'liberal'? Ah well...let's begin! If there was no oil in the middle east we wouldn't be there...that's a fact, Jack. All you have to do to nail that is refer to the Carter Doctrine. No conspriacy there. 'Global warming'! Shazam! Natural or unnatural the planet is getting 'less cold'. Shorter winters and longer summers. That's objective reality. Nobody with any credibility has suggested that 'our gov't' 'did' 9-11. And UFO's? I think the guy that entered this post is pulling our leg. Dumb and dumber!

I don't think we "fall" for anything. I think its the rest of the people that don't or can't believe it is possible. Liberals are open minded and think outside the box. They know there is hate and greed in this world and that there are evil people willing to do anything to achieve wealth or power. Look at Sadam for instance, he was pretty evil, why can't someone be that way just because they are from the US...is this totally impossible just because they are from here? To me the better question is why do cons or whoever totally dismiss any conspiracy right off the bat without any thought process given to it? Its because most minds in this country are trained to believe the impossible is just that, the impossible, when in reality it is possible. I could go right now and jump in a plane after getting a few buds and fly into a skyskraper, I could, I won't because I like myself too much, but I could. So why is it totally impossible for someone else to do it? You all say there would be no way to orchestrate it...Osama did according to Bush. Although many reports have him saying he had nothing to do with it.

My answer would be that we can believe the impossible that most people have been trained to immediately dismiss. Try not dismissing it sometime see what happens. I can't say I believe them all, but most make sense if you can bring yourself to believe people can be that evil.

By the way, Going to Iraq for Oil is not a consipiracy, that is fact....and I have never even till now seen it in that category. So why do you say it is one?

The Clintonites are obviously very wide-eyed and gullible. A fact that is also made evident when studying the icons they choose to promote and follow.

Becuase liberals feel about things they dont logicaly think them through. I sucessfully used pretzel(liberal) logic with a liberal friend of mine and got him to admit that it's ok for democrats to be child molestors but not Republicans. He thought that a Republican would be a hippocrit while a Democrat would just be misguided or some silly thing like that.

I don't know...I remember the conservatives were having fun saying that the Clinton's were killing everyone around them: Ron Brown, Vince Foster, Shooting Down Airlines with Missiles to cover up secrets. Liberals are not the only wackos on this planet. The party generates the most CONSPIRACIES are the ones outside the White House.
