Personally, I believe the restaurant/bar should be able to choose whether or not smoking is allowed. If they choose to be a smoking establishment, I would then have the right to not go in there as a non smoker. If I owned a restaurant/bar, I would think that I should have the right to decide. Let the money decide if it stayed that way.

NO! KEEP SMOKING OUT OF RESTAURANTS!
I am a smoker, and feel there is absolutely NO reason for smoking in a restaurant, you are there to eat, and so are a lot of families with children and aged folks.
Also, why should non-smokers be restricted to certain hours of frequenting a restaurant? Many non-smokers are night owls to :)
Smoking how ever in a bar or saloon, should be allowed, case by case of course. The way I see it, drinking is worse than smoking, AND a bar or saloon is a "leisure" place, whereas a restaurant is a place to fuel your body :)
It's worth mentioning of course, strategic/segregated hours of allowing smoking is irrelevant, as the toxins will STILL be in the furniture and paint, so where is the TRUE gain or benefit? :)

I am not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I agree with you about smokers rights but on the other hand non smokers have the right to breathe fresh, clean air. Second hand smoke is worse than smoking yourself. So, I feel if smokers want to smoke they have that right, but why take something away from someone else who doesn't smoke.

i don't like smoking. in fact i think the act is vile. but i agree that peoples rights shouldnt be taken away so i guess i would. but maybe only from 11-6 and only in sections of the bar/restaurant (like outside?) so that other non-smokers would be able to enjoy themselves without being accompanied by that chocking sensation when a smoker is near.
