People looooove drama as well as warm hearted stories, and you know this as well as everyone answering this question. Its until the viewer of last nights gang shooting on the local news happens to get hit with a stray bullet the following night by some thug, that everything seems to become reality up close and personal.
But at the end, good stories on the news will captivate are minds, and erase the 2 min segment of the local bank getting robbed.

I've been collecting good news in newspapers and on tv since I was 14. I love it when a lost dog or cat is found, when a bear goes swimming in someone's pool or a child dials 911 and saves the whole family. There really is a lot of good news out there-it just doesnt get as much publicity. It should.
By the way, I'll be 70 in January and I've never given up collecting good news stories.

Sometimes they have inspiring segments on CBS News but normally it is only once or twice a week and typically it follows all the bad stuff so you have to sit through that to get to it. Of course that whale story had a lot of publicity and a happy ending. Our local news has a lot of inspiring segments mostly cause luckily there is rarely really bad stuff to report but this year those segments seem to be less often than last year.

Sometimes the local news will have good news. But i hardly ever watch the news on TV. I would rather get the news from Yahoo news, so i can read what i want and skip what i don't want to read, or care about. It's a much better choice.

Yes...in fact nothing really happens in Ohio so they stretch out the weather a lot....and act stupid, then the (UGH!) sports creep comes on and goes into stats i have no use for, my idea would be to create mini documentaries to fill in the gaps.
Wow! I thinkI just found myself a new job....!!!!

As morbid as it sounds...it is true....the media(t.v., newspapers, and even radio) thrive off the bad things of this world. I don*t watch t.v., or buy newspapers for this very reason. Radio ....I listen to the music...when the news segment comes on...I either pop in a cd or cut it off. I don*t need any more depressing news in my life.

I just noticed that the other day! You're right everything is like "Murder suicide attempt" and things like that. It would be nice if they told us good news once in a while.
