Clockwork, there is very little in this world that you could do to LITERALLY sacrifice your life for another unless you were LITERALLY stepping in front of a bullet for him/her or something like that.

Are you talking about sacrificing your happiness for someone else's? Then, of course, we're parents. We do that all the time.

Are you talking about sacrificing your own lifetime of happiness for a brief period of someone elses? Usually not worth the trade off and no one who loves you would ask you or expect you to do that.

Are you talking about sacrificing your own temporary happiness for someone elses lifetime of happiness. Yes, if we truly someone, this is usually worth the trade off.

Are you talking about sacrificing your own temporary happiness for someone elses temporary happiness. Welcome to interpersonal relationships. That's called marriage, parenthood, friendship, etc.

What's going on, my friend? Do you need to email me some more details?

For family my life can be given up immediately w/o fail. For others in an extreme emergency I would not think twice about it as well. I guess my life is mine to help others then.
