Despite acting like I don't like children (other than my own), I have a real soft spot for disabled ones. I once taught myself ASL to communicate with a little patient of mine that I took care of for 9 months. She had cochlear implants, a feeding tube in her abdomen, and was on a vent, so she could not speak and we're not really clear on what she could hear and she had very limited motor control of her muscles. My last day that I spent with her, she smiled, blew me kisses, and said my name as I left. I stopped dead in my tracks, b/c I had always felt like she was always trying to talk to me and she said my name as clear as crystal. I turned around and hugged her; we both had tears streaming down our faces at this point. It was the end of my shift and as I sat in my car, I cried even more, which is something I never do.

I like to sit by water and listen to the cool sounds it makes and watch the cool ripples it can have.
