save a bit of money leyton by buying a oem version of windows vista, its basically a upgrade without all the bells and whistles
oem(or original equipment manufacturer)versions are normally only sold to system builders but online sites like misco and dabs will sell you a copy as long as you buy a mouse or keyboard for about £5
the only difference in a oem to a upgrade is support and warranty, the oem has limited support and warranty but i think if your good enough to install windows then you will be good enough to not need any support from microsoft
the cheapest o.e.m version i have seen is £54 for vista home basic(http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=263755&CatId=0)and £70 for vista home premium(http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=263771&CatId=1159)
even the oem version of vista ultimate is a snip at £120(http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=263766&CatId=1159),compared to the full version which is around £350
personally i would go for the premium version as it has all you need in vista, the 3d aero, voice recognition ect,,were as ultimate only has a few extra networking features
note:allways state you are a system builder when buying a oem copy of vista, however they dont normally ask
good luck mate!

I don't know if it is definative but the couple of times I checked it out I was looking at around £120.00 give or take, but I think it depends on the version and can be £150.00 or more. These prices are off the top of my head so I could be way out. Sorry.

This question is difficult to answer since retailers have different prices.

The upgrade can be purchased at brick or mortar stores as well as online.

If you don’t expect to use MS support, get an OEM version from £66 for Home Premium edition:

make sure ur computer can handle it. if u dont have a dedicated graphics card, at least 1gb. ram and p4 HT or Pentium D then i suggest not upgrading and buy a new computer.

But if ur looking for a cheap price go to NewEgg
