I get soooo annyoing from watching TV cuz of advertisemen for every 15minutes.
And also they seems don't put in affort for buying movies to the TV audience.
Old movies at least 5year, cheap horror movies, today night movie will be on TV tomorrow some time again and in few days again and in few weeks, in few month will be on again.
I am tired and sick of TV.
Somehow if they have "new" movie I will memorize all of their lines by watching it for few days.
My favorite channel is 61 HBO. At least I don't have to throw thing to TV with with advertise.

exactly, the old movies play again again and again. new movie is less less and less. the entertainment program are very low class. I dont even want to see. thats why there are lot of foreign drama, program in the TV. cuz they can do it as well as the foreign studio but it is cheaper to buy the copy right than they make a new but bad TV.

The news here repeats itself every hour, that is the only negative comment I can say about Taiwan television. I think it's a waste of precious time when these news stations (which are mostly "colored" btw) could have instead focused on doing creative shows for the benefit of Taiwan society, and not entrap the people within such polarized political views. Yes, even the news here are politically tainted, when it should be standing on neutral ground!!
Aside from that one thing, the programs from other channels are okay. I especially like the Japanese ones, where they do house renovations using the least possible budget. Hey, in fact the Japanese mostly have the best programs.

With the exception of one individual here, TV in Taiwan only has the ability to turn intelligent people the other way, or drive them completely away from watching TV altogether! I only watch Discovery or National Geographic, when there is an interesting and informative program on. But I have been meaning to count the number of channels and their contents to tell others - i.e. the Buddhist monk channels, the Japanese channels, the infomercial channels (where they scream at ninety miles an hour and keep saying "right!, right!"), or the steady flow of variety shows with moronic humour and cartoon sound effects played over and over to keep the over-worked and over-tested workers and students free of any challenging thoughts.
I have increased the number of books I am reading and use the computer more often. There's little life left in Taiwanese TV.

I dont watch TV here anymore.I downloaded a program called TVU player and watch International TV on my computer without a TV card. It is a small program. I watch the Sci-Fi channel mostly woth programs like Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis, John Doe and a host of Sci-fi movie. Also watch Nickelodean: Reruns of Rosanne, Fresh Prince e.t.c. For News: Fox and ABC and CBS

The only channels I watch are Discovery and Nat. Geographic. And that is infrequently. Other than that its a wasteland. CNN seems like bland pablummy blood hungry crap, too, that dwells on problems and never offers solutions.
The TV shows I download (basically all made in Canada and USA) on my computer using utorrent. I have downloaded and watched 24, some episodes of CSI, Lost, Prison Break, and basically anything else you want. NO COMMERCIALS- best part!

If you want entertainment without cheesy sound effects and endless fart jokes like the Taiwanese variety shows insult our intelligence with their low budget quality standard with, try that. I find it strange that a man wearing a dead animal on his shoulder is seen as culturally entertaining. And the endless dwelling on female chest size.. god. its entertaining for 2 minutes and then its boring. Its like they took the worst aspects of American entertainment talk shows and added in cartoon sound effects.
My wife seems fine with watching the variety shows and soaps on weeknights. She says it helps her not think... (which i find horrifying...) But if it calms you, hey go for it I guess.

Agreed - too many commercials. Movie channels are the best on Taiwanese cable - esp the reruns of the old martial arts films or the earlier dramas...

The movie channels are annoying but the variety shows are the best I've seen in Chinese.
