The first ever Disney Theme Park is...as all the above say...in Anaheim California, as Disneyland and they had only one park: the Magic Kingdom. Now the issue with that is, that Disney didn't buy up much land and the entire park and parking lot area was surrounded by tacky restaurants, hotels, etc. Plus, the park was built on flat land and Walt Disney himself was horrified by seeing some employee dressed up in a Frontierland/Adventureland cowboy outfit walking through the futuristic Tommorrowland and killing the theming...so...he just had to make a new park.

The next park had to have a bunch of land so guests in the park would never have to look at all the tacky stuff again...so Disney created a number of fake companies and bought up land in Orlando...why Orlando? Because in the area in which Disney bought up land had I-4, the turnpike, and just a number of highways crossing through or next to the property...so it was easy to get the people in. So they buy up all this swampland (for cheap)...then the cover gets blown by the Orlando Sentinel and Disney finally announces their project...Disney World. First park is the Magic Kingdom (which is actually built above ground) and featured Utilidors which were tunnels underneath the park so employees could go between areas without killing the theming. Plus the first full monorail system that linked the 3 resorts around the Magic Kingdom, and the Transportation and Ticket Center (Later to EPCOT). And thus begins the legacy of Disney World...and a continuation on the line of Disney Parks.
