Forget about it! Try your local j-yard for something like this. Keep in mind unless your going to pick it up you'll have to pay for shipping too.

It would be a hard call, the first doesn't show much in the picture, price is good, but the warranty is only as good as the seller, and it was just pulled out of a vehicle. The second is re-manufactured, which puts the price up a bit but you are getting like new, and the warranty is likely to be better. It's hard to know when you are using eBay, there is no hands on checking. If I was going to take a chance on one just dropped out of a wreck, I would hit the local junk yard.

What would it run you to rebuild the one you currently have? Might be cheaper and faster. I wouldn't wait 6 months for delivery on the second one.

Listen, your explorer is over 10 years old. I don't recommend that you spend over $500-$1000 for a transmission. Are you going to be installing it yourself? If not, you might end up paying over $1000 for installation. $2000 is probably half the cost of this car. It would not be a good investment if you have to make other major repairs.

If you indeed want to put a transmission on this car, I suggest you shop around within your city. You can probably purchase one for about the same price or less compared to the ones online. Plus, you would be able to easily return it or replace it if there are any problems. SHOP AROUND, check your local junk yards or sellers.

Good Luck.

myself I would never pay more than 200 for a used transmission..

And as far as the thousand and some dollar one, they are on crack, you can get a brand new one for less than that wrecking yard is selling.
