In the UK, it is the retailer who is responsible for the warranty.
Don't take any nonsense, insist on a repair or replacement if you have a fault. It is not you responsibility to deal with the manufacturer, your contract is with them.
Buy from a local bricks and mortar store, at least you can go to see them.
Don't buy direct, you limit your options for redress. If you buy direct from the likes of Dell, you may need to send your PC to Ireland to get it fixed.
Also buy with a credit card (not a debit card) as the credit card company will then have a liability under consumer credit legislation in the UK.

Oh, you dont need to worry about warranties. They give you a toll free number and you can speak to someone who does not speak English about your problem, because the service is overseas also. They might as well have a recording, whenever you call for service that says,
"No can fix computer problem..no speakuha de English."
To prevent that, buy a computer from a local store with a local warranty.

You have to contact their reseller department and sign a partner agreement with them to get dealer pricing. Its a simple contract you sign that lists your business information, tax ID, etc. It's fairly standard as far as the procedure goes. I'm a reseller for Dell, CDW, Barracuda, and a few others .
