It depends on the field, there is no hard and fast definition for success.

In Business, profits earned is the measurment.

In arts, the response from the audience is the key.

In teaching, creating the successful individuals from kids is the key.

For a politician, amount of votes he gets is the measurment.

For an engineer, how easy his work made the peoples life.

For a doctor, the number of lives he saved.

For a policeman, the number of criminal he punished.

For a CEO, the amount of value he creates for promoters.

And the list goes.

The only measure of success is knowing that you are doing exactly what it is the Lord has planned for you to do. This leads to peace and tranquility. When you have peace with your life you are not worried about money and status. Furthermore, when you fight your destiny, you live in chaos and stress.

the yardstick for measuring success is in ones own hands.how much ever people tell a person how successfull he is unless he himself feels satisfied about it ,he will not accept that he is successful.i feel its a question everyone should ask themselves first, because ur opinion of urself matters the most.even if the whole world shouts that u are a failure,it doesnt matter as long as u think u are in the right track.

Success is one of those terms that is symantically null; that is, it is only meaningful in context with its use. There is only one person who can determine if you are 'successful', and that is yourself. You set yourself goals and determine the events that mark various levels of success; milestones along your path. At these milestones or intermediate successes you should celebrate these steps toward your ultimate goal. You are successful when you feel a sense of acomplishment in whatever you are doing.

In what area of life? Life, personal growth, wealth, education, relationships, parenting, social commitment...

Each area of our lives can be assessed by preconceived notions of success.

Success though is an inner peace -- contentment.
