The Southern Baptist Convention under Richard Land. It's interesting that Land hates Jimmy Carter and the fact that Carter brokered a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel. Land obviously missed his seminary classes on the days they discussed Christ's message of peace.

1. The Southern Baptist convention (See heading in the letter for your answer)
2. It was in support of a "Just War" and described same.
3. It *DID NOT* encourage the President to "attack Iraq" in "'gods'" name.
4. You should actually *read* the letter.

"
You can bet it wasn't Habitat for Humanity. We'd have suggested that he attack Israel."

Walter, there you go again. Geez, you're everywhere! ;D

"3. It *DID NOT* encourage the President to "attack Iraq" in "'gods'" name"

Sound fairly encouraging to me .

""at least they're not ******* Catholics"
Huh? What's that about ?Not gung-ho enough for war?Too sympathetic to the poor?Thought the anti-Catholic stuff went the way of Jim Crow . Guess not.

To answer the original question , haven't found that , so far . Did find this from a minister opposed to it. He did a paragraph by paragraph analysis and refutation of the Land Letter . http://www.11th-hour.info/Articles/Abomination_Desolation.html A bit melodramatic at times , but very logical and insightful . Really knows his stuff , historically and doctrinally speaking.

Here's a sample: "......goes on to explain to Bush what "just war theory" is. I assume he was offering Bush the "Christian" justification for his actions? The "Christian Theologians" he mentions from that period ironically happen to include the same Catholics that the entire protestant Church rejects, and says exercised undue rule and authoritarian domination over the Church when they give the justification for the protestant reformation. They call them deceived and self serving worshipers of rule and self glorification and pompous, abominable deniers of Christ when it comes to placing themselves under the authority of the catholic church. They place most of the doctrine of the catholic church in the waste basket as deception and antichrist spirit, and rightfully so, but now here in this letter, as convenience presents itself, they call them the "Christian theologians of the 4th and 5th century"?? ...."

There are many, most however fall under the umbrella of the ''moral majority'' which by the way is ANYTHING but moral.

One of the rationalizations for the illegal occupation of Iraq (and the murders of over one hundred thousand innocent Iraqi civilians) is that the United States is engaged in a struggle of "good versus evil". In spite of repeated heinous acts committed for years by the United States in the Middle East, including state terrorism resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, installation and/or support of ruthless dictators (i.e. Saddam Hussein, the Shah of Iran), and enabling the Israelis to commit genocide against the Palestinians, these pseudo-Christians have managed to convince many Americans that the US is "good" and the "terrorists" (i.e. the Resistance to US occupation in Iraq) are "evil". As the US government continues to rape the Middle East, Christo-Fascists slap "God Bless America" bumper stickers on their gas-guzzling SUV's actually believing that the Father, the Son, and/or the Holy Spirit would bless a nation governed by murderers, thieves and thugs.

Yes, I can visualize a Christian God sitting on his throne in the kingdom of heaven gazing down upon humankind. As he surveys humanity, he "wisely and judiciously" decides to answer Jane Morgan's prayer for a 2008 Hummer to replace her two year old Navigator. After all, he can't have Jane driving a "jalopy" to worship him on Sundays, now can he? Spying eight year old Mahmoud, a Palestinian in Gaza, God decides to let him die of malnutrition because he is not a Christian, and in fact is an "evil" Muslim who could become "terrorist" someday. Jerry Falwell,( God rest his soul?) who does not appear to be struggling with malnutrition, would be most pleased with his Maker
