It wasn't until about the 15th century that stained glass was used in non church buildings.

That's during the Renaissance.

I have lived overseas in several countries that have castles, including Germany, where the original model for the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland is, and have seen it several times. Many of the castles, and towns, I have seen date from the 1500's have stained glass windows in the churches, as well as, castles. They are amazing in their beauty and it's totally amazing that they are still intact. Many of the windows in the castles and churches were destroyed during WWII. There are castle tours and I highly recommend them to anyone traveling the Europe.
