You have to apply to RACGP to enter a training program. I think it's a 3-year long training program before you're a registered GP.
I haven't really looked into it as I'm not keen to be a GP but this is what I heard from other med students.
I THINK rural training is a little bit longer... but you have a lot of opportunity as a rural GP.. and it's probably a specialty in itself.

If you have passed the courses and had the recommended internship time you can apply to local clinics to start as a GP.~~
