If it's pure gold, no. Check by rubbing it. If it regains the original colour, then its probably dirt. If not, it's probably got some percentage of copper in it.

This will depend on the alloy mixed with the gold

Example South African Gold is Light yellow whereas that mixed in the middle east is quite brownish. This is likely due the copper added at manufacture.

You never wear pure gold...it is too soft. It is always an alloy.
10 14 18 24 carat

Pure gold will not discolor...but your jewelry isn't pure...and isn't supposed to be. Even gold coins are not pure...but an alloy for durability.

*** oops... that was my understanding...then I looked it up.
Pure gold is 24 carat
It is still real gold to be any other carat.

source quote
"Gold is rare, durable, chemically inert, and beautiful. These qualities make it useful for monetary exchange and investment, jewelry, and art.Golds high electrical conductivity, malleability, and ductility make it useful as an industrial metal. Gold is alloyed with silver, copper, nickel, palladium, zinc, and titanium to increase its tensile strength. Note: for gold, 1 carat = 1/24 part. Pure gold is 24 carat. "
