any number to the power of 0 is 1

this is because of one of the properties of exponents which states that:
x^m / x^n = x^(m-n)

for example:
10^5 / 10^3 = 10^(5-3) = 10^2
or
100000/1000=100

now, if the exponents of the numerator and the denominator are the same, it becomes like this:
x^m / x^m = x^(m-m) = x^0 = 1

or

10^2 / 10^2 = 10^0 = 1
or
100/100=1

therefore, 10 to the power of 0 is 1

It's a rule of math that anything to the zero power equals 1.

Look at this:
10^5=100000 (1 with 5 zeros)
10^4=10000 (1 with 4 zeros)
10^3=1000 (1 with 3 zeros)
10^2=100 (1 with 2 zeros)
10^1=10 (1 with 1 zero )
10^0=1 (1 with 0 zeros)

Another way is to think about what happens when you divide exponents. You have to subtract:

x^5 divided by x^3 = x^2
y^10 divided by y^3 = y^7
3^4 divided by 3^2 =3^2
x^5 divided by x^5 = x^0.......but anything divided by itself=1.

As described by others, 10^0 = 1

Any number to the power of zero is 1

Except that 0^0 = 1 BY DEFINITION

0 to any other power is 0 (so you would expect 0^0 would also be zero; hence the definition as above)

notice that a^m /a^n = a^( m-n)

10^m/10^m = 10^0

but 10^m / 10^m = 1

10^0 = 1

Consider the following:-
100,000 = 10^5 index 5
10,000 = 10^4 index 4
1,000 = 10³ index 3
100 = 10² index 2
10 = 10^1 index 1
1 = ?
Following the pattern, it would appear logical that 1 = 10^0 ie index 0

See a logarithmic curve... it might help you understand better.

lg 1 = 0 ... the curve cuts the x-axis at 1...

therefore

x^0 = 1 ... x cannot be 0, the graph does not exist at 0!

0 can be written as 2-2
therefore
10^0=10^(2-2)
10^0=(10^2)/(10^2)=1

not only 10...any number to the power of 0 is 1.e.g:
10^n=1*n 10s..10^3=1*10*10*10..........similarly,
10^0=1*no 10=1.Hence proved.

let us say, that 10 squared = 100
now divide 10 squared by 10 squared which also ==100
100 divided by 100=1
