I assume you are talking about the price of lodging, not about cheap methods to spend your day.

Try Stay-Okay (www.stayokay.nl). They used to have the youth hostels, but now these are transferred to cheap hotels for every ages. You don't have to do community services anymore (as in the fifties). There are even private rooms for two to four persons. Remember: as with all big cities, the best and cheaper hotels are booked well up in advance, so be on time

A good idea is to book a flight through easy jet (about £50)
then when you get there go to central station, then go to tourist info and book a room there. You can stay in a hostel for 10 euros a night
