monique is 24 yrs old. She is twice the age that Valerie had when Monique was the same age that Valerie is now. How old is Valerie? Why ? explain.

2 x 12 = 24 Monique twice the age of what Valerie is now and twice the age of of what she was when she was the same age.

Monique is 24. Valerie was 12 when Monique was 18 and is now 18 herself.

12, because monique was once 12, and valarie is half her age(monique IS twice the age).
