No me neither, its just superstitious nonsense, probably to add a bit more excitement, you know to get more people going to the theater etc...

It is superstition that started centuries ago...
It is called "the Bards play" or "the Scottish play"...
The original reason why the play was deemed unlucky is in the old days, stock companies ran the theatre etc would struggle at times and put on the crowd favourite Macbeth.. This signalled to the actors (troop) that things were not so good...
A lot of times they were out of work and that's how it became the "cursed play"...

It was bad luck for the actors and actresses appearing in plays. After several accidents, it became a superstition, and since actors are highly superstitious already, they carefully avoid saying the full name of the play. Just call it M or the the Scottish play.

To the best of my knowledge that superstition only applies when you are IN a theater. I have performed MacBeth in a proper theater and no one said MacBeth expect when it was part of the script... unlucky or not, it is tradition.

It is simply a superstition that has become theatrical tradition. Few people truly believe such nonsense, but use it as a tradition, a quirk of their profession.

The strength of the 'bad luck' is directly proportional to the amount of faith you apply to the idea. The more you believe, either way, the more you will see it just that way.
(Hope that helps)

the word only has power because thousands of people give it power. if you dont believe in it, then it wont affect you, at least not as much as those that do.
