She's alive but not doing too well. Bratz and American Girls are beating her badly in the market. Mattel has been churning out some cheap looking Barbies--the beach one have odd shaped legs and the Zodiac line looked like they used old tee-shirts stamped with glittery emblems--except for the collector's editions, which cost an arm and a leg. If they don't stop and consider their market, they're going to falter. I, for one, would be sad to see that happen.

The real Barbie is alive but... how to say it.. fat. So they hide her from the world, she's living in South Africa currently.

I believe the creator of Barbie died somewhat recently.
She was quite wealthy because of Barbie.
However, the creator of GI Joe sold his rights early as he felt Joe wouldn't do so well.
He then created Captain Action which did not do so well.

She's alive and graduating in a week or two...
I seen her in a store and she was trying out her cap and gown.
