take her to the hospital as her husband was recovering from major surgery and wasn't doing too good. Unfortunately we never got there in time and he had just passed away. How much petrol money do you think I should charge my neighbour? Please remember this was after 12am

Whatever! She has more to think than money now! So, charge 30 for the gas, 20 for waking you up, 40 for it being after 12 am, 200 for a possible speed ticket, 500 for the distress she caused you. To be fare tell her that you'll give her back the 200 in case you don't get a ticket within a year (it takes them forever sometimes to send them!). If you are gonna do it do it right!

Considering the circumstances I would not charge her, her husband did just pass away, she has enough problems to resolve. It was great for you to take her to the hospital, but take the next step and just consider it a good deed done for free.

dont charge her anything. Her husband just died. What kind of sad person would do that. She is in mourning. So what if it was after 12 am. If someone close to you was dying and you needed a lift how would you feel to be charged money? You are so shallow and heartless.

This is a joke right?!
How about imagining the sum and then going out to buy her a nice condolence card and flowers for that sum of money.
I think it's a tad insensitive and a cheek to be thinking about money at a time like this!!!!
Shame on you.

Unless you are very and I mean very hard up for money you should not charge her anything . And beside which, how would we know anyway, as you didn't even say how far you drove that night. 2 miles, 50 miles what is it?
PS No offense but thank God you're not my neighbor.

Either you copied this from a previous asker or you are that person. I remember this being on the site some time ago so there is NO WAY this is a real question. Good try though.

I don't care about the time or money issues. If someone asks you for help like that, you don't go around asking to charge them for situations like this.If you do,then you're more cold hearted of a bastard than I am.

You would charge your neighbor money knowing her husband passed? How about being nice and not charging.
