Hasselbeck represents the conservative position on The View, defending creationism and opposing euthanasia and abortion. She stated on The View that she is a great fan of facts. She was a supporter of President George W. Bush's re-election campaign and delivered a primetime speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention.
On April 12, 2007, Hasselbeck appeared as a guest on Fox's Hannity and Colmes. She discussed Don Imus's allegedly racist remarks and other passionate issues. Hasselbeck also discussed her political stance, stating that she calls herself neither a conservative nor a liberal. She told Hannity and Colmes of her parents' independent political stance, never telling their children who they voted for. She also told the two co-hosts that the term "conservative" does not define her as a person; she defines herself.
On May 7, 2007, she and her husband attended the Bush administration's first white-tie state dinner for Queen Elizabeth II, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

"...She also told the two co-hosts that the term "conservative" does not define her as a person; she defines herself..."

That sounds really good on paper, but who's she kidding, she's a conservative Republican. One thing I cant stand is people who try to sneak around their views, to avoid losing favor in the public. She shouldn't be ashamed of the fact she's conservative (this is coming from a mainstream Democrat). Her statement is pathetic; everybody has at least SOME political views drawn from a political party.

Personally, I think that the whole "The View" thing is childish, on both sides, and both of them should leave. While Rosie did provoke her (from what I've seen), Hasselbeck certainly did help to fuel the flames.

I expect that, since the political arguments are now over, the show's ratings will fall faster than her husband's passer-rating (ba-da-bing!)

Yes hasselbeck is a bint. Her butter wouldn't melt attitude bugs the sh*t out of me. She should have been the one to go from the view because her point of view is boring and uneducated anyone who supports Bush is brainless. "I believe you have to support the Presdent in a time of war" What no matter what he does or says? Even though he got his poodle Tony Blair and the CIA to cook up evidence to go to war with Iraq in the first place? Even though he has lied constantly since he has become president? She is a complete no brainer.

Hasselbeck is not necessarily unintelligent. I think she didn't know or care much about politics until recently when she found a niche is opposing Rosie. Although the volatile Rosie is sometimes her own worst enemy, Hasselbeck knew how to goad Rosie and how to mischaracterize and redirect the arguments. Hasselbeck was instrumental in getting Rosie kicked off the show. That's smart, not dumb. After all, she's a Survivor.

She doesn't strike me as sounding dumb. You can be an independent and still go the Bush administration's state dinner. It would be an honor to attend no matter your political leanings.

I worked on Clinton's 1st Inauguration and because of that I attended the Prayer Breakfast, the Gala, one of the Balls(the one at the National Armory), and his swearing in - does that make me a democrat?

She's an over-reacting idiot, just like the rest of the right winger war mongers. Rosie asked a legitimate question..Did Iraq attack us? No they did not!

I think the fact that she let someone like Rosie draw her into a screamfest and a cat fight shows her extreme lack of intellect and control.

No, believe me, Elizabeth Hasselbeck is not dumb. When one voices their opinion for justice, character, moral values, and other wholesome views, that one may be labeled as "dumb". Why? Because they have gone against the liberal voice of the left and the degradation of those who have taken this path. My thumb is up for Elizabeth!
